The Fox County Focus
We are pleased to announce a new tour which will see us visit Abbey Travel, Leicester on Saturday 28th October. This trip is operated by Nik Anthony and the plan has been devised to allow us to enjoy journeys on four assorted Olympians from this fleet and as always with Nik’s trip we will be taking the buses along routes which rarely, if ever, see scheduled double deck operation.
The vehicles we have requested are;
J703HMY, Leyland Olympian/Alexander RH new to Citybus, Hong Kong as EW9215
N349HGK, Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties new to Stagecoach Selkent
R82XNO OR R102XNO, Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties new to Stagecoach Selkent (one of these two will be used)
S43SNB, Volvo Olympian/East Lancs new to Blue Bus of Horwich
All vehicles are subject to availability on the day. During each run we will stop somewhere suitable to allow passengers to photograph the vehicle and there will be time to see and photograph the other vehicles in the fleet at the depot.
There will be two pick-ups on this trip, the first will be at 09:40 near the depot entrance in Thurmaston Footpath which can be found using postcode LE4 9JU- please do not attempt to park in the depot or in Thurmaston Footpath itself as this is a narrow road used by large vehicles, use adjacent residential roads off Humberstone Lane. The main pick up will be at 10:05 outside Leicester railway station in London Road on the same side of the road as the station, look out for us as the stops there can be busy. During the day our runs will take us out to Coalville, Melton Mowbray (where the lunch stop will be taken), Cossington and Oakham. The last vehicle of the day will drop off near Leicester station at approx. 18:15 before returning to the depot around 15 minutes later.
The fare for the entire day of travelling is £15 for all passengers and you don't need to pre-book or reserve a place on our trips, simply turn up on the day, hop on the bus and your friendly conductor will collect your fare during the journey. There is no requirement to be a member of any particular group or society to join this trip, nor do you require an invitation to join us. Our trip is a private hire and the operator will NOT be able to answer any questions or enquiries- if you require any further information or you have any questions please e-mail nik280 (at) btinternet.com or chrismartin13601 (at) hotmail.co.uk (substitute the correct @ symbol!). Please don’t contact the operator directly as they will not be able to answer your enquiry.
I sincerely look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on this trip, please forward this message onto anyone else who you think may be interested and please cut and paste into other news groups if you think it might interest their members.
